Doctor of Philosophy / Master of Philosophy

Introduction

The Institute of Textiles and Clothing offers research degree programmes leading to the degree of Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The primary objective of the MPhil programme is to educate students at the Master's degree level with a view to preparing them for PhD studies in the near future. The PhD programme is primarily designed to prepare students for a career in academic research and teaching, and also enables students to pursue a career in research and industry.

Points to note for all candidates

Please indicate the name of your confirmed or prospective chief supervisor in point 1 of your Research Degree Proposal.

Points to note for non-local candidates

  1. Non-local students must also hold a valid student visa to study in Hong Kong unless they hold a work permit and take a part-time programme, or hold a dependent visa as a spouse or child (up to 18 years old) of a non-local person permitted to work in Hong Kong. Normally, student visa is granted to those who will take up full-time study. The University will apply the student visa for non-local students after they have accepted our offer.
