• This programme is offered within the Master of Business and Management Scheme.
• The programme provides three specialisms:
  • Master of Business Administration (Aviation)

  • Master of Business Administration (Fashion)
    工商管理碩士 (時裝)
  • Master of Business Administration (Innovation and Design)
    工商管理碩士 (創新與設計) 
• Students will be admitted to the MBA (with a generic award). Students can choose to graduate with a specialism upon fulfilment of the specialism requirements.
• Duration of Study: Students who wish to extend their studies beyond the normal duration can submit such a request to the Research and Postgraduate Studies Section of the Faculty of Business for consideration.

Programme Aims

The PolyU Full-time MBA programme is a general management programme aiming to provide a postgraduate educational experience to young managers who wish to enhance their general management capability. Graduates should be capable of making an immediately enhanced contribution to their organisations, of assuming additional responsibility over time and of becoming effective general managers.

The programme strengthens students' knowledge, skills and intellectual abilities as defined in the broad learning outcomes, underpinned by the specific learning objectives below.

1. Critical and Creative Thinking 
   Learning objective (a): To analyse business cases and solve business problems by applying concepts and techniques in a critical manner. Demonstrate an understanding on the applications and implications of the latest technologies to practices and decisions in business issues.
   Learning objective (b): To be able to integrate concepts and provide creative solutions to business problems.
2. Effective Communication
   Learning objective: To communicate reasoned arguments effectively, both in speech and in writing.
3. Leadership Capabilities
   Learning objective: To demonstrate the understanding of human behaviours and the ability to influence others to achieve common goals.
4. Global Outlook
   Learning objective: To adopt a global outlook and an understanding of cultural diversity, globalisation and their implications for business in the latest technological environment.
5. Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability
   Learning objective: To develop an understanding of issues surrounding ethics, social responsibility and sustainable development pertaining to the context of general management with respect to the applications of the latest technologies in business contexts.

Characteristics

This programme prepares recent graduates and young managers to solve real-world management problems. The structure is intensive, comprehensive and well-designed. Taught by experienced and committed teaching staff, the programme provides students with exceptionally good value.

This programme builds on the knowledge and skills that participants have developed during their careers. In the Core Subjects, a broad managerial perspective is adopted, whilst the more specialised Elective Subjects are designed to suit the particular needs of participants and their current and future employers.

Overall, the programme seeks to serve the general management needs of all participants while permitting some specialisation in areas of particular relevance to some students.

PolyU's MBA has been developing general managers in Hong Kong since 1990. Its structure, content and teaching approaches have been benchmarked against those of the best programmes in the world.

Programme Structure

The programme is designed to equip students with knowledge of major business functions and in-depth management knowledge in one year. A wide range of Electives is available for selection.

Students can choose to graduate with the following awards/specialisms, subject to their successful completion of required Electives:

The programme requires a total of 39 credits.

For Master of Business Administration
Students are required to complete:

For Master of Business Administration (Aviation)
Students are required to complete:
30 credits from Compulsory Subjects and 9 credits from Speciality Electives from the Aviation specialism

For Master of Business Administration (Fashion)
Students are required to complete:
30 credits from Compulsory Subjects and 9 credits from Speciality Electives from Fashion specialism

For Master of Business Administration (Innovation and Design)
Students are required to complete:

ii. Not all subjects will be offered in a given year, subject to factors such as staff availability, student enrolment, and programme resources.

iii. For a given cohort, a clash-free timetable will be arranged only for the Compulsory Subjects. The timetable is also subject to change without prior notice.

• A Bachelor's degree, postgraduate degree or postgraduate diploma in any area, or an equivalent professional qualification; and a minimum of 2 years' experience in a managerial or professional capacity; and proficiency in English;

If you are not a native speaker of English, and your Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification is awarded by institutions where the medium of instruction is not English, you are expected to fulfil the University’s minimum English language requirement for admission purpose. • Based on their applications, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend selection interviews. In general, candidates are expected to demonstrate their motivation, maturity and ability to communicate in English.
• Classes of compulsory subjects are arranged during weekday (both daytime and evening) and at weekends (Saturdays and Sundays, 6.5-hour class per day). Regarding elective subjects, the majority of them are offered on weekday evenings, and a few of them at weekends.
