Student Message

Pursuing the Master’s in Global Hospitality Business has been the best decision I’ve ever made. Immersion in different cultures by living on three different continents and working with classmates from all parts of the world has allowed me to better understand the globalized world in which I work and live. Thanks to exposure to countless professionals from various fields in the hospitality industry, I have been able to extend my network significantly and identify new career opportunities. Moreover, this programme truly succeeds at enhancing each individual’s personal development according to each individual’s strengths and weaknesses. I was, for instance, given the opportunity to participate in the Hyatt Student Prize 2015, an international competition where students from the most prestigious institutions offering Master’s degrees compete against each other. I can proudly say that I won this competition, thanks to my Master’s in Global Hospitality Business. What I love most about this programme are the friends I’ve made. The things I’ve learned from them, and the programme’s intensity and fast pace have truly made me a better individual and stronger professional.

Miss Rubina Insam

To be a member of the inaugural cohort of the Master of Global Hospitality Business from Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne, PolyU’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the University of Houston’s Conrad N. Hilton College has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will allow me to launch a career in the hospitality industry. I chose to pursue this Master’s degree due to the exciting global experiences it offered, its access to the vast alumni networks from three universities and the opportunity to learn about and live in three cities on three different continents.

The programme provides an exclusive, behind-the-scenes perspective on the hospitality industry. We have met with countless industry experts and professionals from many hotels, restaurants and other businesses who have provided not only their industry knowledge and expertise, but also their advice and guidance regarding our future careers as we approach graduation. In addition to furthering my hospitality business knowledge, the MGH programme has also broadened my experiences by introducing me to new markets and cultures.

I love that the programme allows me to incorporate my passions for travel and hotels into my daily studies. It has taught so much about the industry outside of the classroom. I have also learned a great deal from my colleagues – an extremely diverse cohort from over 20 countries with varied educational backgrounds and work experiences. As the first cohort, we have faced many challenges along the way as we attempt to make the first journey as smooth as possible. However, without the support of all three universities and each other, we would not have been able to overcome each issue that has surfaced. I am fully confident that our experiences in the unique Master of Global Hospitality Business will allow us to further our careers within all aspects of the hospitality industry and related businesses in markets all around the world.
