Programme Aim
This programme provides non-business graduates with the foundation they need in the main functional areas of management, and offers graduates in all disciplines in-depth training in operations management.

Characteristics
This programme provides skills and knowledge in the efficient and effective management of operations, and is relevant to those working in services and manufacturing in both the private and public sectors.
It introduces the concepts and tools needed to manage the resources of an organisation to achieve the efficient production and distribution of goods and services. The organisations involved could be factories, hospitals, the police force, airlines, airports and docks, distribution depots, hotels, restaurants, and so on. Particular subjects deal with quantitative techniques, decision making, quality management, resource planning, information technology and e-commerce.
Students completing one or more relevant subjects in the MSc in Operations Management are eligible to apply for the following qualifications provided by the Six Sigma Institute (SSI):
Programme Structure
The programme offers a structured progression pattern, and students are highly encouraged to follow this pattern to benefit from cohort-based study and graduate on time. However, being credit-based, the programme allows students the flexibility to proceed at their own pace and graduate within the normal duration.
MSc students complete 4 Compulsory Subjects, 3 Specialised Subjects in one of the specific streams, 1 Restricted Elective Subject and 2 Free Elective Subjects (30 credits). The three streams are Operations Analytics, Quality Management and Operations Strategy.
Alternatively, students may take 4 Compulsory Subjects, 3 Specialised Subjects and a Dissertation (9 credits).
Students may graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma upon completing 4 Compulsory Subjects and 3 Specialised Subjects (21 credits).
Elective Subjects
Electives include subjects relating to operations management and subjects of more general interest.

Some subjects are included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund.
This programme is recognised under the Qualifications Framework (QF Level[6]).
If you are not a native speaker of English, and your Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification is awarded by institutions where the medium of instruction is not English, you are expected to fulfil the University’s minimum English language requirement for admission purpose. As a graduate of the MSc in Operation Management (OM), I can confirm that this programme provides a detailed and holistic perspective on the latest advances in this fast-changing business world. The course content was very comprehensive, enhancing my knowledge at the higher management level and refreshing my knowledge of various operational areas. It not only enhanced my ability to analyse and solve complex OM problems, but also enhanced my skills in critical evaluation and my ability to think rigorously and independently.
The professors are experienced, energetic, and approachable, I learned a lot from interacting with them during lectures. This interaction helped me to reinvent myself by achieving higher order skills to meet all future challenges in the OM field. Moreover, the programme provided me with a good opportunity to meet new friends from different industries, which broadened my horizons.
The 2019/2020 academic year was challenging, but with encouragement from my professors and classmates, I was able to overcome all difficulties and strive for the best!  | I would recommend this programme because it provides a foundation in the main functional areas of management and covers hot topics such as Six Sigma and Enterprise Resource Planning. As a student in the Quality Management stream, I learned quality management techniques in a systematic way. Such techniques not only facilitate problem solving in the workplace, but also improve work efficiency by reviewing workflow and reducing unnecessary work procedures.
Completing the course entitled me to register as a Six Sigma Institute Green Belt, which paves the pathway for operational excellence. In addition, the programme allows students to choose elective subjects based on their preference. While studying Enterprise Resource Planning, I realised the power of using ERP systems and developing best practices to enhance real-life businesses.
