Student Message

Student Message

I am really grateful to have received the opportunity to join this programme that is instructed by distinguished and enthusiastic teaching staff. The teaching staff not only shared their experience with us but also encouraged us to critically think about a spectrum of industry topics through group discussions, and gave us opportunities to combine academic knowledge with industry practice through stimulations and projects. These teaching and learning activities improved my analytical thinking and helped me gain market insight.

I also appreciate the strong bonding developed during my postgraduate study with teachers and classmates with diverse backgrounds. Both during and after the programme, we often exchanged market updates, latest seminars and career opportunities with one another. This programme moulded me into a more competent maritime and logistics practitioner and upskilled me to climb the corporate ladder with my current employer who acknowledges the quality education provided by PolyU’s Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies.

CHUEN Sui Ting

Before joining the master programme, I was working in the IT sector of the shipping industry, where I used to develop and maintain different systems for the shipping company. That is when I found my interest in working in the shipping industry. Therefore, to enrich my knowledge of the shipping domain, I enrolled in this master programme.

This programme provided me with specialised knowledge of international shipping and logistics management. I acquired wide knowledge of maritime transport and logistics within a broad framework of international transport and trade. The knowledge can benefit my career. For example, I have learnt a lot about the shipping process, which can guide me in designing creative and intelligent systems to bring more value to the company.

Moreover, this programme is supported by Hong Kong Maritime and Logistics Scholarship, which has significantly eased my financial concern over joining this master programme.
