Programme Aim

The programme welcomes students from business and non-business backgrounds who have an enthusiasm for global business. It aims to provide students with a wide range of quantitative and qualitative skills necessary for working in a global business environment.

  • Students are given a comprehensive understanding of how operating across borders affects various functional areas of business, such as supply chain/operations, logistics, accounting, finance, and other related management areas.

 

Characteristics

The programme equips students with a portfolio of business skills and industry knowledge that will enable them to meet the challenges of working in a fast-moving global commercial landscape. As such, the curriculum provides students with a comprehensive understanding of various functional areas of global business (such as supply chain/operations, logistics, accounting, finance, and other related management areas) and excellent training in the scientific and analytics tools necessary for managerial decision-making.

Structure (Subject to review)

The curriculum comprises an exciting and innovative mix of theory and practice-based lectures, seminars, and hands-on workshops. It enables students to construct a comprehensive knowledge framework of various functional areas in global business and develop the analytical skillsets needed for solving challenges in global business strategy and operations.

 

The curriculum consists of four compulsory subjects, four restricted elective subjects, and two free elective subjects or a 6-credit research-based project. 

 

Students may graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma upon completing four compulsory subjects and two restricted elective subjects (18 credits).

 

Compulsory Subjects+

(Four subjects - 12 credits for both MSc and PgD)

  • International Trade and Logistics Management
  • Models for Decision Making
  • Business Analytics

 

Restricted Elective Subjects+

(Four subjects - 12 credits for MSc; two subjects – 6 credits for PgD)

  • At least one of these methodology-focused subjects:
    • Project Management
    • Statistics for Management
    • Applications of Decision Making Models
    • Global Risk and Decision Analysis
  • At least one of these supply chain, logistics, and operations-focused subjects:
    • Global Sourcing and Supply
    • International Operations Management
    • Contemporary Issues in Operations Management
  • At least two of these accounting, finance, management and marketing-focused subjects:
    • International Accounting
    • Accounting for Managers
    • Managerial Finance

Students may take more restricted elective subjects than necessary, and these will be counted as free electives.

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline.

Interview

  • Departments will consider applications on a rolling basis. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend admission interviews. Applicants who submit their applications before 30 November 2022 will be invited to attend the first round of interviews in December 2022. Other rounds of interviews will be conducted afterwards.

 

Class Arrangement

  • Classes are normally scheduled on weekday evenings in three semesters (including an optional Summer Term) within an academic year.
