Services for Non-local Students

The Non-local Student Handbook

The Non-local Student Handbook provides non-local new students with immediate and important information on study and life at PolyU and in Hong Kong. Important points to note upon arrival, as well as Immigration regulations concerning their stay in Hong Kong are listed out clearly in the booklet.

Orientation Programmes

To enable non-local freshmen to smoothly adapt to PolyU and Hong Kong, a series of Orientation Programmes is specially organized for them.

Buddy Programme

The Buddy Programme offers preliminary support and advice to inbound exchange students before their arrival at PolyU. A buddy (a current student at PolyU) is assigned to each inbound exchange student with his or her consent. The buddies share their personal experiences with the new students, and answer questions through email, WhatsApp, QQ, etc.

Host Family Scheme

Successful applicants of this scheme will be introduced to a PolyU staff/alumni/professional recognised by PolyU and be invited to join their family activities occasionally to experience how family life is in Hong Kong. Please be reminded that the students will not be accommodating with the host families.
