Programme Aims & Learning Outcomes
We prepare students to become technologists in the field of civil engineering. The programme also provides a sound educational background for those students who wish to pursue higher-level study in the same field.
We teach students to apply civil engineering knowledge to solve construction problems and to communicate clearly and effectively in spoken, written and graphical presentations. This programme provides fundamental training in civil engineering, which means that students may pursue further study by joining the BEng(Hons) in Civil Engineering programme with credit transfer if they graduate with excellent academic results.
Full accreditation was granted to the programme by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) in 2017. Graduates are granted full exemption from the academic requirements of Associate Membership of HKIE.
Employment opportunities are available as technical officers and supervisors in both public and private sectors, such as Civil Engineering and Development Department, Drainage Services Department, Highways Department, Housing Department of the HKSAR, civil engineering consultants and construction companies, etc.
