Programme Structure

Students can choose from a wide range of subjects that are offered under the Postgraduate Scheme in Construction and Environment, each generally requiring one evening class per week over a 13-week semester.

Students must complete 7 subjects, including at least 4 Core Subjects, and a Dissertation that is pertinent to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or Surveying. The Dissertation is optional. Alternatively, students can choose a Geomatics Project and one more Core Subject in either GIS or Surveying, depending on their stream.

Core Areas of Study

The following is a brief summary of the core areas of study. Students will be provided with detailed information on the subjects for selection upon registration.

Student Message

Student Message

Geomatics is widely used in our daily life, ranging from satellite to underground systems, all of which are closely related to LSGI, such as planet probe, navigation, smart transportation, big data analysis, and underground exploration. The Master of Science (MSc) in geomatics covers a wide range of disciplines, such as remote sensing, photogrammetry, cartography, geographic information, and programming. It is a comprehensive course combining theory with practice and offers a wide range of options for career development.

I did not have any background in LSGI subjects when I enrolled. It was a big challenge for me to keep up at first. I met professional teachers and friendly classmates. In addition to the full preparation of the courses and the detailed instructions, teachers were willing to answer students’ questions after class. They not only provided academic help and encouragement, but also guided the direction of my future development.

This enriching learning journey cultivated my genuine interest in geomatics, allowing me to apply the skills and theories I had earned in class to analyse the situations encountered in real life, which made me proud and satisfied.

I strongly recommend geomatics to those who are interested in understanding and engaging in relevant professions. Not only the knowledge learned, but also the people and experiences encountered will be unforgettable.
