Programme Aims & Learning Outcomes

We provide a challenging and relevant education in radiography that encompasses medical imaging and radiation therapy.

An enquiring, analytical, and creative approach to learning is encouraged to ensure that students develop clinical reasoning skills needed to become competent and responsible professionals.

Our programme produces ethical and caring practitioners who are keen to pursue professional development and take on wider community responsibilities.

Our student-centred learning approach encourages independence in learning, enabling our graduates to keep abreast of developments in a dynamic profession.

Programme Characteristics

This programme comprises academic and clinical components.

Collaboration with universities in mainland China and overseas provide student exchange opportunities.

Curriculum

Curriculum

  • Year 1 establishes a foundation for degree-level education in relevant subject areas and develops generic attributes required of graduates.
  • Year 2 provides the basis for gaining professional knowledge in the following years. It incorporates a range of professionally related foundation subjects and has a strong student-centred learning format.
  • Years 3 and 4 deepen students’ learning of professional knowledge and integrate academic learning with applied clinical experience.
  • In Year 2, students can choose a concentration in medical imaging or radiation therapy. This continues into Year 4, which also provides a range of Elective Subject options for the continuous development of students’ learning.

Student Message

Student Message

It has been an immense privilege to study Radiography (Medical Imaging) at HTI, which bestows profound knowledge on students. The well-structured clinical placement curriculum gave me an authentic experience of working as a true diagnostic radiographer. Not only did I become more knowledgeable but I also gained a clearer understanding of my future development within this profession.

I am particularly thankful to HTI for opening many doors for me in the last four years. In the first year, I was honoured to take part in an academic exchange programme in Taiwan to visit their local hospitals. To develop student character, I was encouraged to become an Executive Committee Member of the Student Ambassador of Radiography and a peer tutor for medical imaging and clinical skills modules. The department continuously supported me in realising my potential by equipping me with many prestigious scholarships and award applications. With exposure to such opportunities, I have no doubt that this is a perfect place to guide students in becoming strong-minded and all-rounded professionals.

CHAN Chun Wai, Jan

The Department of Health Technology and Informatics (HTI) offered me unreserved support throughout the 4-year Radiography programme (specialism in Radiation Therapy). The comprehensive curriculum encompasses a broad spectrum of foundational knowledge (e.g. Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Physics), clinical skills, and professional practices in radiation therapy. This has equipped me with ample evidence-based knowledge of radiation therapy and its latest and future development. Outstanding mentoring and customised guidance from the high-calibre teaching team also helped me to transform my academic knowledge into professional know-how during my clinical placement in Year 2. Most importantly, I am holistically prepared to deliver the best possible treatment and care for all patients in the future. My mentors also provided me with abundant opportunities to develop my research skills and interests, enabling me to complete my first academic publication on radiotherapy for paediatric cancer patients in an international journal during my final year. Finally, I am wholeheartedly grateful for the unparalleled and endless support provided by HTI.
