Student Message

Student Message

Studying at PolyU has been a fruitful and enjoyable experience. As a final year student looking back on the last three years, it is clear to me that PolyU’s various academic and extra-curricular activities have increased the range of my knowledge and given me a global vision.

I will never forget the trip to Cambodia, which was part of the Service-Learning component of my course. We built solar charging stations and wired up villagers’ houses with LED lighting. Spending time with the locals in a rural setting gave me pause for thought. It made me reflect on myself and my living style. Therefore, I decided to join a student-initiated team to contribute more to community development in rural Cambodia. We started our five-year plan in 2018.

My final year research project is on blue-green infrastructure with the Drainage Services Department. I am looking forward to applying what I have learned from my programme in the real-world context. The Work-Integrated Education component will give me a chance to work in Stockholm, Sweden, to help my placement company develop a set of environmental guidelines and standards.

Studying at PolyU has provided me with theoretical knowledge as well as a platform to apply what I have learned to society, just as our motto says: “To learn and to apply, for the benefit of mankind”. I am proud to be a member of PolyU.
