Student Message

Student Message

I am proud to be a PolyU student because of its unique programmes, passionate lecturers and extraordinary learning environment.

The courses offered are specialised and practical. Within the Faculty of Business, for example, students can take general management and accounting programmes and also programmes that target a particular industry, such as International Shipping and Transport Logistics or Aviation Management and Logistics. PolyU not only equips its students with the practical knowledge they need to adapt to their future careers, but also develops them into all-rounders through the obligatory Work-Integrated Education and Service-Learning programmes.

PolyU’s first-rate courses and programmes are delivered by lively lecturers, who captivate their students with a good dose of humour. They are always willing to spend time with their students after class and help them set clear goals for their future career development. Their efforts strongly motivate students to strive for better academic results and realise their dreams.

PolyU fosters a great learning atmosphere thanks to its well-resourced facilities, such as simulators, laboratories and research centres, which assist students in learning effectively and motivate them to work harder.

With its specialised programmes, professional lecturers and enriching environment, PolyU excels in nurturing the next generation. I believe that anyone would be proud to study at PolyU.

LEUNG Ching Yin, Alanis

As a member of the first cohort of students enrolled in the BBA (Hons) in Aviation Management and Logistics (AML), which launched in 2017, I am glad to have had the opportunity to prepare myself for a career in the aviation industry. The programme provides seminars, internships, career sharing and site visits to enable students to familiarise themselves with the industry. My internship at a renowned aircraft manufacturing company in Shanghai enabled me to explore the culture of the industry overseas. This was a highlight of my academic life.

As well as gaining up-to-date information on the market from professors, students have the opportunity to learn from guest speakers in the industry. This gives students a glimpse of how the industry works in the real world. PolyU is well recognised for the quality of its transport and logistics tertiary education.  This new programme helped me to land a job in a leading international unmanned aerial vehicle company. Applying for the AML programme is a great opportunity for candidates from all over the world to experience academic life at PolyU.

LIU Ka Yeung

As a graduate of the BBA (Hons) in Aviation Management and Logistics in its very first year, I am thrilled to share with you my experience of the programme, which encompasses both textbook knowledge and practical applications.

During my studies, I gained a great deal of specialised knowledge of theory and practice in the aviation industry. This gave me a fundamental understanding of airlines, airports, and the logistics industry in general. I also had the chance to attend lectures delivered by industry leaders, in which they shared their experiences of the aviation industry. I would not have been able to gain this tacit knowledge from regular lectures.

Along with conventional lectures and tutorial classes, the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies arranges out-of-classroom activities with different aviation stakeholders. These activities helped to broaden and deepen my understanding of aviation, and gave me invaluable industry know-how.

Additionally, I had to fulfil internship requirements to complete my studies. The Department is very flexible in this regard. Students can pursue internships through the self-sourced route if they are interested in a particular segment of the aviation chain, or seek assistance from the Department for selected internship positions.

I truly hope that this account of my experience has given you a better understanding of the programme and how it can enhance your future development.

SO Yiu Chung William

PolyU’s BBA (Hons) in Aviation Management and Logistics (AML) teaches students everything they need to know about the aviation management and logistics industry. It equips students with extensive knowledge of the aviation industry in areas such as airport management, airline strategy and management, and air transport logistics. Graduates of the AML programme can pursue various career paths; for example, they can join airline companies, Hong Kong’s Airport Authority, or logistics companies.

Studying AML at PolyU gave me practical knowledge of the aviation management and logistics industry. As well as conveying fundamental theories and concepts, the programme leaders invite various industry experts to share their experiences of working in this field and the latest developments therein. In 2018, I took up an internship at DHL Express Hong Kong, during which I was responsible for the operation of air freight logistics. This allowed me to apply all of the skills and knowledge I had learned during the AML programme. It also gave me the opportunity to collaborate with experts in air logistics. I am grateful to have enrolled in the AML programme at PolyU.
