Programme Aims & Learning Outcomes
The BSc (Hons) Scheme in Computing and AI consists of the following degrees. It aims to give students the flexibility to choose their degree in their first year of study.

BSc (Hons) Scheme in Computing and AI
Computer Science - BSc (Hons)
Enterprise Information Systems - BSc (Hons)
Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence - BSc (Hons)
All students are admitted to the BSc(Hons) Scheme in Computing and AI. In the first year, they take a common set of subjects to lay a foundation for university study and gain a taste of the Scheme. In the second year, they can select the individual degree and study the corresponding content. All of these pathways feature a Minor option and an individual or a group integrative Capstone Project in the final year.
Computer Science - BSc (Hons)
· Year One: Fundamental knowledge, laying the foundation for university study, a taste of the Scheme.
· Year Two: Generic broad computing skills, and basic business and management concepts.
· Year Three: Strengthening computing technologies and applications in IT.
· Final Year: Specialisation in different areas such as data mining, computer graphics, e-commerce, Internet computing, multimedia computing and game programming.
Enterprise Information Systems - BSc (Hons)
· Year One: Fundamental knowledge, laying the foundation for university study and gaining a taste of the Scheme.
· Year Two: Basic computing and IT concepts, underlying technologies, business, accounting and management concepts.
· Year Three: A broadening year featuring various aspects of computing skills and knowledge of enterprise information systems.
· Final Year: Specialisation in areas such as information system management, audit & control, decision support, knowledge & project management, business process management, logistics and workflow.
Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence - BSc (Hons)
· Year One: Fundamental knowledge, laying the foundation for university study and gaining a taste of the Scheme.
· Year Two: Broadening computing skills, basic economics, accounting and finance concepts.
· Year Three: A strengthening year with core subjects like software engineering, systems security as well as computing/finance electives.
· Final Year: Specialisation in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning & pattern recognition, crowdfunding & e-finance, and e-payment & cryptocurrency.

Professional Recognition
Re-accreditation will be sought from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) for the programmes (except BSc (Hons) in Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence^).
Graduates of all programmes can become members of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
Those with appropriate work experience can become professional members of the ACM Hong Kong Chapter (HK Chapter) and enjoy the right to vote for the LEGCO IT functional constituency representative. Graduates can also join the IEEE Computer Society Hong Kong Chapter (CS Hong Kong Chapter) and be entitled to vote for the IT functional constituency representative.
^ The Department will seek accreditation from the HKIE for BSc (Hons) in Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence.
Career Prospects
BSc (Hons) in Computer Science graduates can become programmers, system developers, software engineers, sales engineers or webmasters. Our graduates find employment opportunities in sectors such as the government, software businesses, e-commerce, banking, finance, public facilities and freight forwarding.
BSc (Hons) in Enterprise Information Systems graduates can take up technical positions as programmers, system analysts, system developers, software engineers and system administrators, and less technical positions including technical sales and sales engineers, project managers, web administrators and web services designers.
BSc (Hons) in Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence graduates are expected to become financial technologists who can fill the talent gap of the fast growing FinTech field. Opportunities in FinTech are extensive both in Hong Kong and worldwide, and include careers such as financial consultants, AI consultants, financial data analysts, FinTech system developer and entrepreneurs.
